# Initialization and discovery

## Asynchronous discovery

```typescript
const sdk = await createCiferSdk({
  blackboxUrl: 'https://blackbox.cifersecurity.com:3010',
  logger: (message) => controlledLogger(message),
});
```

Initialization reads the Blackbox health/discovery response and prepares supported chain configuration.

```typescript
sdk.getSupportedChainIds();
sdk.getControllerAddress(8453);
sdk.getRpcUrl(8453);
```

## Controlled configuration

Use `createCiferSdkSync()` when the application supplies its own read client and chain overrides.

```typescript
const sdk = createCiferSdkSync({
  readClient,
  chainOverrides: {
    8453: {
      rpcUrl: 'https://your-rpc.example',
      secretsControllerAddress: '0x...',
    },
  },
});
```

## Environment safety

* Do not infer production contracts from a development secret ID.
* Validate that the discovered controller matches the intended chain.
* Restrict custom RPC URLs to trusted configuration.
* Use separate storage namespaces for test and production jobs.
* Avoid enabling debug logging with user plaintext or credentials.

The SDK is silent by default. A supplied logger receives operational progress, not a guarantee that every downstream service is healthy.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://cifer.gitbook.io/cifer-docs/documentation/cifer-sdk/sdk-reference/initialization-and-discovery.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
