# Secret management

The recommended `web2.createClient()` interface stores the current session and common configuration.

```typescript
const client = web2.createClient({
  blackboxUrl: sdk.blackboxUrl,
  readClient: sdk.readClient,
});
await client.createManagedSession({
  principalId,
  ed25519Signer,
});
const secret = await client.createSecret();
```

Web2 secrets use principal-based authorization while exposing the same encryption model to the application.

## Delegation and ownership

Use the client or stateless `web2.secret` and `web2.delegate` namespaces to inspect secrets and manage allowed principals. Delegation should be treated as access to plaintext, not merely access to ciphertext.

## Client and stateless styles

* **Client style:** recommended for application code; the session and defaults are retained.
* **Stateless style:** useful in controlled services or functional code; every operation receives its session, Blackbox URL, and other dependencies explicitly.

Keep a secret's identifier, environment, owner, and recovery context together in application state.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://cifer.gitbook.io/cifer-docs/documentation/cifer-sdk/web2-integration/secret-management.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
